Devotional Thoughts from Praise Revival Center
MISUNDERSTANDING
SCRIPTURE: Josh 22:33-34 They were glad to hear the report and praised God. And they talked no more about going to war against them to devastate the country where the Reubenites and the Gadites lived. 34 And the Reubenites and the Gadites gave the altar this name: A witness between us that the Lord is God.
THOUGHTS: The Reubenites, Gadites and Manassites were in conflict with the rest of the Israelites when they built an altar, which was a replica of the altar in Canaan. They were misunderstood by the rest of the tribes of Israel, thinking they have committed a great sin worthy of Gos’s wrath. As they were confronted by the elders of each tribe, they umderstood their purpose. How many relationships were hurt or destroyed because of misunderstanding? Husbands snd wife have had unnecessary or needless quarrels because of wrong perception. Likewise in an office setting, officemates get into conflict with one another because of different ideas and attitudes. Instead of setting their differences by trying to understand each one’s position, it becomes more complicated. Musunderstanding sometimes breaks out because of a failureto listen first before judging the other. Our attitude aids to reveal the true nature of our heart. It discloses the good and bad things stored up in there. Christians are no exemption but we need to always settle our differences immediately in order to keep the devil from causing further conflicts. Be aware that the enemy is always waiting for an opportunity to cause us to sin.
